Because this is an early release, macOS and Windows will show a one-time security warning. Follow the steps for your platform below to open the app. A signed & verified version is coming soon and will eliminate this step entirely.

🍎 Mac — Bypass Gatekeeper

macOS may say "Apple could not verify this app is free of malware." This appears for any app not yet enrolled in Apple's paid notarization programme.

1. Open your Downloads folder and mount the .dmg file.
2. Drag EmailCleanerApp into your Applications folder.
3. In Finder, go to Applications and find EmailCleanerApp.
4. Right-click (or Control-click) the app icon → click Open.
5. A dialog will appear — click Open to confirm. macOS remembers this choice permanently.

Alternatively, open Terminal and run:
xattr -cr /Applications/EmailCleanerApp.app
then double-click the app normally.

🛷 Windows — Bypass SmartScreen

Windows may show "Windows protected your PC — Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app." This is normal for new apps not yet widely downloaded.

1. Run the downloaded .exe installer.
2. When the SmartScreen dialog appears, click "More info" (small link below the warning text).
3. A "Run anyway" button will appear — click it.
4. The installer will proceed normally.
